Caroyln Shutt Hamilton was born on October 3, 1931 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Robert “Bob” Taylor Shutt and Bernice Irene Basey Shutt.
On May 13, 1951, she was united in marriage to Perry Wayne Hamilton, who preceded his wife in death on January 22, 2004.
Mrs. Hamilton owned and operated Carolyn’s Drapery Den, where she worked sewing custom draperies and decor. She lived in the Cravens area in Savannah, Tennessee known as the “Fork”. In her younger years, she participated in the Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah, Tennessee for over 60 years. Carolyn served in the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Ministry locally and was a General Assembly delegate and officer.
Carolyn Hamilton departed this life on October 19, 2016 at the age of 85 years, 16 days.
She is survived by her 3 children, Deborah Jan Clayton, Perry Mack Hamilton, and Bobbie Kay Bryan; sister, Doris Marie Ray; 6 grandchildren, Alaina Jan Clayton Gray, Jacob Hunter Hamilton, Emily Kay Clayton, Caroline Elizabeth Hamilton, Taylor Jordan Bryan, and Thomas Hamilton Bryan; and 3 great grandchildren, Charlotte Elaine Hamilton, Amelia Jan Gray, and Cordelia Rose Hamilton.
