Carolyne Bevis Peeden “Gigi”, 63, of Florence, Alabama passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home after an extended illness.
While she was a native of Florence, and graduate of Central High School, she met her “knight in shining armor” and had the amazing opportunity to move all around the country, and travel the world. They recently moved back to Florence in 2012 and have loved being back close to her family that she loves so much.
She was an amazing Christian woman who loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul. She spent her time studying His word, leading bible studies, serving in the Emmaus communities in Richmond, VA and Georgia Foothills, and serving her family and friends like a true Proverbs 31 woman. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had the true gift of hospitality, and made everyone feel so loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.H. and Roberta Bevis. She is survived by her husband, Pete of 42 years; daughter, Ashley Groff (Rick) and her beloved grandchildren, Anna Caroline and Braden Groff of Atlanta, Georgia; four brothers, Robert Bevis (Sandra), Joe Peeden (Jean) of Florence, Raoul Peeden (Vanessa) of Huntsville, John Peeden (Dee Dee) of Guntersville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she absolutely adored. We will always cherish the Christian heritage that she instilled in our lives, and the amazing legacy she created.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 7th from 6-8 pm at Greenview Funeral Home, and her “celebration of life” will be on Friday, August 8th at 2:00 pm at Underwood Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Lancaster and Rev. Charlie Green officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joe Peeden, Raoul Peeden, John Peeden, Robert Bevis, Nathan Peeden, and Thomas Peeden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Underwood Baptist Church Building Fund.
