Carolyn McCollum Haraway, age 80, of Decatur, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, December 21, 2025. She was born on December 18, 1945, in Huntsville, Alabama.
Carolyn was a graduate of Huntsville High School, the University of North Alabama and earned her master’s degree from the University of Alabama. She spent her career serving Limestone and Morgan counties through her various positions with the Mental Health Centers of North Central Alabama, including providing crisis call services for twenty-five years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Edna Hildring, and Allen and Marie McCollum; her husband, Daniel Haraway; and her siblings, Cregg McCollum and Janice Couch.
Survivors include her son, Mark Haraway (Kriss); her daughters, Leigh Morgan (Tony) and Sarah Haraway; her sisters, Linda Wade (Robin) and Judy Hill; and her sister- and brother-in-law, Judy and Jim Johnson. Seven grandchildren and one great grandson also survive her: Mack Haraway, Logan Haraway, Maddie Haraway, Sam Stinnett, Aiden Poole, Mitchell Poole, Garrett Morgan and Jalen Rodriguez.
In accordance with her wishes, Carolyn will be cremated, and no viewing or memorial services will be held.
