Carolyn Louise Cummins, age 79, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at Life Care Center.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at Polk Memorial Gardens on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on October 6, 1943, in Columbia, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Raymond Henson and the late Omega Sharpe Henson. She worked as a school bus driver for the Maury County Bus Garage for over twenty years and also worked for the City of Columbia Public Works. She loved to dance and enjoyed cooking for others. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Kent (Kim) Cummins, siblings, Kathlene Rogers and Paul Wayne Henson, grandchildren, Ashley Runions, Shelby Thornton, Raegan Cummins, Kristin Cummins, Kourtney Dale, and great grandchildren, Jaxson, Maeleigh, and Maklynn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Keith Cummins, brother, William Wesley Henson, brother in law, Perry Rogers, and great granddaughter, Madilyn Wicker.
Pallbearers will be Dodd Garrett, Mike Dale, Mike Powers, Kyle Carrier, Nathan Runions, and Jase Thornton.
The family wishes to extend and special thanks to Ricky & Karen Thompson, Mike & Angie Thompson, Dodd & Judy Garrett, Kathlene Rogers, Kim Cummins, Steve Agey, the nurses and staff of Life Care Center, and the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice for their care and compassion for Carolyn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
