Carolyn Cox Warren, age 68, died Saturday, May 9, 2015, at
1:24 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.
Carolyn was born November 21, 1946, in Florence, Alabama, the daughter of James Howard and Eva Estelle Walker Cox. She married James Warren on June 1, 1968, in Florence, Alabama. He survives.
Carolyn graduated from the University of North Alabama and received her master’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Tennessee. She was a daycare director in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She taught at Central Missouri State University, Kansas State University, and Iowa State Universtiy. She was a professor of education at John Wood Community College from 1991 until her retirement in 2012.
Carolyn was a member of the Church of Christ in Quincy.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four children, Trey (Kim) Warren, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Janet (Craig) Venvertloh, of Quincy, Charles Allen (Angie) Warren, of Edina, Missouri, and Christopher Michael (Tamirra) Warren, of Quincy; 11 grandchildren, Justin Moore, Josh, Madison, and Lauren Hlavacek, Nicole, Erica, and Isabelle Warren, William, Anna, and Lily Venvertloh, and Michael James Warren; a brother, Col. Mathew
(Valerie) Cox, of New Mexico; two sisters, Emily McDonald and Joan (Gary) Muns, both of Florence, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at the Church of Christ (4321 State Street) with Chaplain James Riley officiating.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at Church of Christ
