Mrs. Carol Simpson Maxwell, age 70, of Lacey’s Spring, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville.
Mrs. Maxwell was born on February 21, 1949 in Morgan County to Ernest and Ruth Simpson. Carol graduated from Union Hill High School and Athens State Community College with a business degree. She was married to the late Roger Maxwell for 44 years, Mr. Maxwell passed on January 1, 2013. Carol retired from Norris Cylinder to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a cherished mother, treasured nana and loved by her family and friends. She grew up in Union Hill and was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. She enjoyed her Sunday School Class and had a special bond with the ladies she taught.
Mrs. Maxwell is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Maxwell Nay; grandchildren, Madison Nay and Ethan Nay; sisters & brother-in-law, Gloria Brown & J.W., Leta Brooks; brother & sister-in-law, Ernest Simpson, Jr. & Diann; sister-in-law, Carron Maxwell Trainor & Bob; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ruth Simpson; Husband, Roger Maxwell.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at New Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Eldridge Criscoe, Rev. Robert Cruise, Jeff McLemore, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Maxwell will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church, Brindlee Mtn. Chapel Funeral Home & Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will include; Greg Gullion, Dean Mullis, Marty McCaghren, Ricky Lenox, Jim Northway & Rick Allen.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 at Brindlee Mtn. Chapel Funeral Home, Morgan City.
