Mrs. Carol Joyce Staggs Thompson was born November 07, 1949 in Waynesboro, TN to the union of her parents the late Mr. Clarence Staggs and Mrs. Delia Gobbell Staggs. Mrs. Thompson spent her childhood in Waynesboro, TN being raised in the Forty-Eight Creek area of Wayne County, on her families farm surrounded by nature. She attended school in Waynesboro and graduated from Wayne County High with the class of 1968. In her early adult years she would meet and marry her husband Mr. Larry Thompson on August 07, 1970 the two would remain married until his passing on September 15, 2025. Together they would move to Clifton Turnpike making Clifton their forever home, working on their farm, raising their son and setting deep roots in the Clifton community. She, being a hard worker, held several positions with different companies throughout her occupational years , most notably as a factory laborer with Lincoln Brass Works in Waynesboro. However, the work as a home maker and taking care of her family was always at the forefront of her heart and mind. Mrs. Thompson was of the Baptist faith and in her leisure time loved to shop for bargains in thrift stores or wherever one could be found. Mrs. Carol will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always cherished the time she spent with her family. Mrs. Carol Joyce Staggs Thompson passed from this life at her home in Clifton, TN on June 19, 2026 making her stay on this earth some 76 years, 7 months and 12 days.
Those left to honor her memory include her son Charlie Lee Thompson wife Donna; grand sons Jaggar Thompson wife Katie and Dustin Henderson wife Kassie; great-grandchildren Morgan Henderson and Hannah Henderson; great-great-grandchild Baylor Haddock all of Clifton, TN; as well as several nieces and nephews; other family members, friends and loved ones
In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her siblings Lonnie Staggs, Marvin Staggs, Mack Staggs, Lawrence Edward Staggs, Sue Pope and Lois Crews; great grand son Kyler Haddock
Funeral Services will be held Saturday June 20, 2026 at 3:00 pm with Tommy Beckham officiating. Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery in Clifton, TN.
Visitation will begin Saturday June 20, 2026 at 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm funeral service time all held at the Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation, LLC chapel in Waynesboro, TN.
