Obituary of Carol Darlene (Gough) Ramaker It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Darlene Ramaker, who left us on August 5, 2024, in Huntsville, AL, at the age of 78 due to natural causes. Carol was born on September 25, 1945, in Alexandria, LA, to Eldon Ray Gough and Velma Anglin Newsom.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack LaRue Ramaker, with whom she shared 21 years of a beautiful and happy marriage. She was also preceded in death by her father, Eldon Ray Gough; her mother, Velma Anglin Newsom; and her brother, Dennis Wayne Gough.

Carol is survived by her five children: Cindy Daniel (Scott), Leslie Anderson, Jodi York (Chris), Corki Ramaker (Jared), and Brian Ramaker. She was a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren: Jackie, Tyler, Briana, Elijah, Robert, SpriTely, Wilson, Noah, Collin, Caylie, Bella, Brian, Aiyana, and Rosie. She leaves behind nine great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. She also leaves behind her brother Max Gough (Portia and family), nephew Travis Gough and family.

As a dedicated nurse, Carol’s compassion and kindness touched many lives. She was a steadfast and loving presence in her family’s life and a pillar of her community. Carol was a devoted military wife for over 20 years, supporting her husband and family through numerous relocations and challenges.

An active member of Faith Chapel in Huntsville, AL, Carol found joy in singing in the choir and volunteering at the church’s food bank. Her hobbies included feeding people, fishing, sewing, and creating crafts and floral arrangements. She was known for her giving spirit and the warmth she extended to everyone she met.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on August 18, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Sharon Johnston Park, Pavilion 2, in New Market, AL 35761. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of Carol, whose life was filled with love, generosity, and devotion.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Carol’s lifelong mission to help others, the family asks that donations be made to your local food bank or school lunch program. Carol would have been proud to know that her legacy continues to nourish those in need.

Carol Darlene Ramaker’s life was a testament giving. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
