Carmella Chalfant age 47 of Dowelltown, passed away Wednesday morning, December 4, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born October 23, 1972 in Smithville. Carmella was a Homemaker and attended Buckner’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Donny Chalfant of Dowelltown; son, Axyl (Sydney) Chalfant of Smithville; 2 grandsons, Tristan and Jaxson; mother, Annie Estell Ferrell and Wallace Cooper of Smithville; 1 brother, Delane (Kay) Lawson of Smithville. The family has honored Carmella’s request to be cremated. A memorial service will be held 2:PM Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Phil Tollett officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the DeKalb County Foster Children. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
