Carlyon “Irene” Gunter

  Carlyon “Irene” Gunter, born September 3, 1948, went home to be with our Lord on January 15, 2021. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring aunt, and most amazing granny. She loved her family and always made sure that everyone felt welcome at her home, and that no one left hungry. She was a member of Old Enon Missionary Baptist Church, a lifetime resident of Winston County, and she enjoyed quilting.

She was preceded in death by her father, Odie Lee Harper; mother, Gladys Harper; brothers, Roger Harper and Gathel “Bud” Harper; and sister, Jeanese Harper.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frank Gunter; daughter, Frankie Gunter; son, Robert ( Lori ) Gunter; grandchildren, Sandy ( Elijah ) Slaton, Blake (Nicole) Gunter, Joanna Hall, Brody Gunter, and Madison Gunter; great grandchildren, Alissa Gunter, Ivy Slaton, Ayden Druso, Jaxon Gunter, and Kaige Durso; a host of nieces and nephews; brothers, Gary Harper, Charles Harper, and Donald Harper; and sister, Bobbie Jean Moore.

A graveside will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Old Enon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Brother Bryan Knox will officiate.
