Carl Roosevelt Garland, age 86, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at NHC Brink in Lawrenceburg, TN. He was a native of Lawrenceburg, TN, a veteran of the Korean War, and a member of Midway Church of Christ. He was a farmer and was retired from Murray, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents: George Leamon and Martha Louisa (Cantrell) Garland; four brothers: Earl, Wayne, Ruben and Rufus Garland; two sisters: Arvie Lexie Garland and Artie Tice.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ruby Lurline Garland, two sons: Larry R. Garland of New Rochelle, NY and Allen Lee Garland, and wife Rita of Lawrenceburg, TN; two brothers: Robert and Hubert Garland both of Lawrenceburg; three sisters: Dell Self and Nora Matthews both of Lawrenceburg, and Willa Dean Glover of New Prospect, TN; three grandsons, Dustin Garland, Brad Garland, and Caleb Garland; one granddaughter, Vanessa Ray; seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, February 25, 2013 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 26, 2013, with Randy Kersey and James Earl Heatherly officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN with full military honors.
