Mr. Carl "Darby" ToltonMr. Carl “Darby” Tolton, age 56, a lifelong resident of Arab, Alabama, passed away at his home on Monday, March 9, 2026. Darby was born in Marshall County, AL, on February 16, 1970, to Carl D. Tolton and Charity Claudine Smith Tolton. He dedicated his career to the construction industry, where he was known as a highly skilled carpenter.
Darby was a Christian and held his faith close. In his younger years, he enjoyed working with horses. He had a passion for his work, and loved tinkering on cars. He will be remembered for having a strong work ethic and for his involvement and enjoyment in hands-on projects.

Darby is survived by his son, Gage M. Tolton (Karlie); mother, Charity Smith Swaim; stepfather, Raymond Swaim; grandchildren, Presley Tolton, Sadie Tolton, and Miley Tolton; nephew,
Daniel Tolton (Hannah); niece, Ashley McCord (Dillan); great niece, Vivian McCord.
He is preceded in death by his father, Carl D. Tolton and his brother, Daran DeWayne Tolton.
A graveside memorial service for Darby will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 2:00pm. Brother Greg Johnson will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Gage M. Tolton, Daniel Tolton, Dale Whisenant, and Richard Harris.
