Carl C. Holmes, 76, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at his home after a brief illness. He was born March 28, 1940, to Jeff and Cletter Clytie Graves Holmes. Carl was a loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed by family and a host of friends. Carl loved watching football, traveling, dinners with family, and spoiling his pets. He worked as a butcher for 25 years before retiring and was a proud member of the UFC Butcher’s Union.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Sammy Raper officiating. Burial will be in the Andrews Chapel Cemetery.

Carl is survived by his wife and best friend of 25 years, Barbara Dean Holmes; his children, son Rodney Holmes (Suzanne) of Belmont, daughter Terry Ladd (Vernon) of Fresno, CA, stepdaughter Sherry Smith (Tim) of Fulton, and stepson Elliot Sheffield (Sharon) of Tupelo; three brothers, Travis Holmes (Phyllis), Hillary Holmes (Judy), and Doug Holmes (Anna), all of Fulton; one brother-in-law, Robert Woods of Plantersville; a sister-in-law, Angela Dean (Jeff Jones) of Dorsey; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gaylon Holmes and Prentiss Holmes; and his sister, Frances Woods.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, at the funeral home.
