Carl Bernard Conley Jr., age 62, passed away January 18, 2015. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Carl Bernard Conley Sr.; his mother, JoAnn Summer Conley; his maternal grandparents, H.R. Summer Sr. and Marian Grubbs Summer. His paternal grandparents were May Keys Conley and Tom Conley. He is survived by his sister, Karen Lynn Conley and his cousin, Yvonne Summer Schram.
Carl was an avid lover of history and books. He worked at Sherwin Williams and Hutto Printing for a number of years but decided to retire at an early age to take care of the needs of his family and to pursue many of his beloved hobbies. He lived in Decatur all his life and his family was considered one of the pillars of the community. His grandfather, H.R. “Sandy” Summer served as mayor of Decatur in the 1950s and his mother a former Rockette owned and operated JoAnn’s Dance Studio, one of North Alabama’s most successful dance studios for over 30 years.
At Mr. Conley’s request there will be a private memorial.
