Carey “Matt” Byrd, age 47, of Cherokee, died Saturday, July 14, 2018. Visitation will be today, July 17th from noon to 2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Paul Swindle will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Matt was a native of Colbert County and a machinist by trade. He attended Sunnyside Church of God, and he loved to play music. Matt was preceded in death by his stepfather, Marty Posey.
Survivors include mother, Mary Posey; father, Mike Byrd Jr. (June); daughter, Nichole Byrd; brothers, Mike and Mark Byrd; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike, Mark and Jeremy Byrd, Todd Cook, Jason Swindle and Jeremy Ivey. Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Newman, Jimbo Saint and Bryant Mauldin.
