THE SHOALS-The Lauderdale and Colbert County Democrats have officially opened up candidate qualifying which will end on Nov. 8th at 5pm. Anyone interested in running for office is encouraged to reach out to the Lauderdale Co. Chair, Dave Smith or to the Colbert Co. Chair, Willie Hovater.
The following offices in Lauderdale Co. are up for election in the 2020 cycle: Board of Education, County Commission District 1and District 2, Chair of the County Commission, Revenue Commissioner, and Superintendent of Education.
If you wish to run for office in Lauderdale County, qualifying paperwork can be dropped off at the Democratic Headquarters at 220 W. Tennessee St. in Florence on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm-5pm. The following offices in Colbert Co. are up for election in the 2020 cycle: Board of
Education District 3 and District 5, all County Commission districts, Revenue
Commissioner, and Superintendent of Education. County Commission districts 3, 4, and 6 are currently held by Democrats in Colbert Co. as well as the Superintendent of Education.
