Calvin Eugene “Gene” Flannagan, age 88, of Leighton, passed away December 22, 2018. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at North Alabama State Fairgrounds, Muscle Shoals. The funeral will be Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence, with Brother Henry Melton officiating. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Leighton.
Gene was a member of the Baptist faith. He coached women’s slow pitch softball for various recreation leagues around the Shoals for many years. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching westerns.
Preceding him in death was his loving wife of 68 years, Laura Maude Flannagan; daughter, Doris Jean; parents, Buford and Cora Mae Flannagan; and siblings, Edward, Junior, and Marie.
Survivors include his sons, Billy (Tona), Larry (Teresa), Ken (Donna), and Dwight; daughters, Barbara (Curtis) Campbell, Dianne Flannagan, Ruby (Lynn) Robbins, and Donna (Ken) Bailey; seven grandsons; eight granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; and six great-granddaughters.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
