Callie M. Suggs Adams, 83, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, Alabama following a brief illness. Callie was the third child born to the late Ms. Carrie Graham Suggs in Russellville, Alabama on August 2, 1931.
Callie was preceded in death by her mother, husband, Jordan L. Adams, Sr., son, Jordan L. Adams, Jr., siblings: William Perry Smith, brother, Hattie Suggs, sister and James O’Neal Suggs brother and Charlie H. Carter, brother.
At an early age Callie accepted Christ as her personal Saviour. Prior to Callie’s health failing her, she was a very active member at Saint Paul, C.M.E Church. Callie’s involvement as an active member at St. Paul C.M.E. Church included: member of Stewardess Board and the Missionary Society and was a member of Eastern Stars of Golden Chapter #16.
Callie’s involvement during her long life included a retired beautician and county agent, Franklin County Corporative Extension. She truly loved to keep people busy and occupied. She had a green thumb and cherished decorating and antiques. Callie loved to help others, always opening her home and extending her love and guidance to others.
Memories will be cherished by daughters, Sherhonda (Steve) Adams Head, Acworth, Georgia, and Sharon (Hasan) Suggs, Nashville, Tennessee; son, Brian (Chiquita) Suggs, Madison, Alabama; grandchildren, Hasan and Sabriya Rasheed, Nashville, Tennessee, Cedric Head, Lineville, Alabama, and Matthew (Etasha) Head, Marietta, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Skyler, Khaliaya, and Jahmil Rasheed, Nashville, Tennessee, and Cooper Head, Marietta, Georgia; dedicated sister, Annie Lucille Suggs, Russellville, Alabama; brother, Robert Lee (Martha) Suggs, Sheffield, Alabama; Percy A. (Gloria) Carter; adopted sisters, Mary E. Wilson and Annie Buckingham, Florence, Alabama; special cousins, Bruce Hamilton, Tamer (Melissa) McGuire, and Ada Catherine (Larry) Hubbard; special friend, Antha McCollum; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends; and special caregivers, ReShanga Baker, Francis Bishop, Annette Malone, and Mary Davidson.
Visitation with the family will be noon-1 p.m., today at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama.
Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be
1 p.m. today at
Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, Alabama, with the
Rev. Eric Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Luketown Cemetery, Russellville, Alabama.
Public viewing was Monday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at
Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia.
