TUSCUMBIA-Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation will host its quarterly meeting on Sunday, May 18, at 2 pm in the afternoon. The meeting will take place at the historic Helen Keller Public Library in Tuscumbia.
Guest speaker Cait Monroe will present a lecture on cemetery preservation, including how to clean and photograph

gravestones. Her presentation will cover a wide range of cemetery preservation issues, including information about the historic Winston Cemetery in Sheffield and the Alabama Historic Commission register.
Ms. Monroe is the Archivist for the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library System. She also serves as State Chair of Historic Preservation for the Alabama Daughters of the American Revolution.
“We are delighted to offer our community this workshop on cemetery preservation,” said Dr. Lorie Johnson, president of the Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation. “Cait is a talented and knowledgeable historian who offers excellent training on respectfully preserving cemeteries. Anyone interested in performing basic care for family gravestones or in learning more about historic cemeteries should join us.”
