C. Wayne Wales – Obituary

C. Wayne Wales, age 80, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2015. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Stephenson Chapel with Rev. Roger Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the chapel with burial in Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, Alabama. Roselawn Funeral Home is directing.
Mr. Wales was born in 1935, in Ardmore, Alabama. He graduated from Ardmore High School, and went on to attend Auburn University and graduate from Athens College. He served in the Alabama National Guard, and worked as a Laboratory Supervisor at Amoco Chemicals, from which he retired in 1990. Mr. Wales was a Deacon at First Baptist Church, and was involved in the Senior Ministry Program. He is a former member of the Civitan Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Katie Wales; two brothers, Cecil and Alton Wales; and two sisters, Sadie Rochelle and Naomi Hodges.
Mr. Wales was such a special man to so many people. He loved the Lord, and was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed the time he spent on the farm, as well as spending precious time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Magnusson Wales; son, Kevin Wales (Michelle); brother, John Wales; sister, Hazel Johnson; and grandchildren, Sarah Grace Wales and Harrison Kendal Wales.
Pallbearers will be Terry Wales, Harrison Wales, Ken Wallick, Jim Hudson, Hugh Hillhouse, Chad Hodges, Ray Hodges, and Larry Self.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of First Baptist Church Bud Bryan/Jessie Rodgers Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund.
