C. Brady Pitts – Obituary

Funeral services for C. Brady Pitts, age 25 of Cragford, will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. J.J. Burkhalter and Rev. James Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Brady passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at his residence. A native and life-long resident of Clay County, he was a graduate of Clay County High School – “Class of 2011” and played the trumpet in the school band. Brady was a member of the Millerville Volunteer Fire Department for five years and the Bluff Springs Volunteer Fire Department for two years. He had attended Southern Union State Community College and the University of Alabama. Brady worked as an Assistant Manager at Mapco for five years, as a manager at Hardee’s for two years and had also worked for Alabama 100.7. He founded the Clay County Autism League at the age of 16 and received a letter of commendation from former Governor Bob Riley. Brady worked at the Summer Sizzle, the Clay County Art Camp and was always willing to volunteer, help in anyway and would talk to anyone, never meeting a stranger. He was a member of Mellow Valley Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and riding four wheelers.

Brady is survived by his mother, Doris Sala (Henry) of Lineville; his father, Tracey Pitts of Millerville; one sister Malya Pitts of Cragford; one brother, Madison Pitts of Temple, GA; five beloved cousins: Whitney Kennedy (Alexander Grimes) of Bluff Springs, Hannah Kennedy of Cragford, Derrick Tyler Kennedy, Thomas Daniel Burkhalter and Jeremy Lee Rice, all of Cragford; his second parents, James and Linda Burkhalter; his step-father, Paul Sala (Janice) of Temple, GA and his fur baby, Anna Grace Pitts.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Windell and Martha Burkhalter, Bill and Clessie Pruitt and James Pitts.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Roberts, Anthony Watts, Jeremiah Rozelle, Jaleza Rozelle, Harley Campbell and Bart Griffin.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Millerville Volunteer Fire Department and the Mapco family.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
