Byron “Pistol” Smith, Jr. beloved son, husband, father and papa, age 58, of Cherokee, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at his home after an extended illness.
His family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Morrison Funeral Home of Cherokee. The memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Bro. Greg Beasley officiating. A private family burial will follow in the following days.
Pistol was a native of Cypress Inn, Tennessee. He traveled the whole country as a truck driver for 40 years, and he and his wife, Karen have owned Sparkys Drive Inn in Tuscumbia for 20 years. Pistol was a big man full of love and laughter who enjoyed barbecuing, riding four wheelers, and spending days with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Byron “Smitty” Smith, Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Karen; sons Todd and wife Kim, John and wife Jenna, and Matt and wife Paula; mother Betty; sisters Sheila and Sandy, but the light of his world was his granddaughters, Jordan and Bayly (aka Peggy).
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many family and friends who took the time to visit with Pistol and brighten his days over these past several months and to Gary Balentine his lifelong friend. Pistol was a special man who will be dearly missed.
