Byron FergusonByron Ferguson, 71 of Hartselle was born October 31, 1953 in Lawrence County, AL to Clarence Ernie Ferguson and Opal Johnson Ferguson. He passed away Friday, October 3, 2025 at Crestwood Medical Center. Visitation will be Monday, October 6, 2025 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Peck Funeral Home. No other services are planned.

Byron was an internationally renowned longbow archer who traveled the world for 40 years sharing with others what he loved most. He became infatuated with the bow and arrow at the age of 12 and began working as a bricklayer’s helper to earn the money to purchase his first recurve bow. Famous for his coin trick, Byron once shot eight dimes in a row out of the air. The most difficult shot of Byron’s career came while performing on the television show Super People in Tokyo when he shot an arrow through a diamond ring. Byron appeared on American Shooter on TNN,ESPN, ESPN2, and OLN for ten years where his “shot of the week ” was the most watched Portion of the show. Byron also appeared on the program Shooting USA on The Outdoors Channel, as well as Impossible Shots. He served as host and producer on TNN’S Everything outdoors. the worlds first “how-to” outdoor TV program. In 2023 Byron formed Byron Ferguson Productions, a full service video production Company. Byron authored the book Become the Arrow. As an exhibition archer, Byron performed in the following Countries: France, Japan, Chile, Italy, Spain, Canada, USA, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Finland, and Brazil. He also appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Extreme Marksman, and Super Human. In 2023 Byron was inducted into the Archery Hall of Fame. Byron loved his family and taught his sons and grandsons how to shoot. His larger than life personality brought life to all around him, and he life out loud with joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and Brother Jeff (Bodeen) Ferguson.

3 Grandchildren-Owen Amazan, Paxton Ferguson, and Jude Ferguson

In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Children Hospital in Birmingham, AL
