Burman Lee “Skip” Akers, Sr. passed away Jan. 16, 2026. He was born Dec. 13, 1952. Skip lived for two things, his family and making people laugh. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
His family will receive friends at Albertville Memorial Chapel Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. There will be a private graveside at a later date.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lucille and his brother; Ricky.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years; Mary Akers, loving son; BJ Akers and his devoted daughter; Autumn Clayton “Diddy’s girl.” He is also survived by his grandsons; Quenton and Trey Hurt, and great-grandchildren; Khalil and Lalanie.
To his aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, to many to count, he loved you all.
Special mention to Star Boling, you were the sister of his heart.
Debbie Patterson, you are our best and loyal friend. Thank you for being our blessing during this time.
