Burl B. Chandler, 87, of Huntsville, peacefully passed away Thursday, February 6th at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cullman, AL, Burl and his wife, Betty, were married for over 67 years. After moving to Huntsville in the early 60’s, Burl and his twin brother, Hurl, began their career as carpenters, eventually partnering as Chandler Brothers for land development and custom home building. They were both inducted into the Huntsville/Madison County Builders Hall of Fame in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Chandler; sons, Keith Chandler (Sue) Kenneth Chandler (Lee), and Chris Chandler (Debra); grandchildren, Jason Chandler (Alexis) Allison Chandler, Laura Ann Mayer (Bryan) Sara House (Michael); nine great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Stisher; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Kyle and Mae Etta Chandler; his brother and sister-in-law, Hurl and Peggy Chandler; sister, Obera Jester; and brother-in-law, Galen Stisher.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home preceding the memorial service at 3 p.m. with Stephen Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Family Care or the Huntsville/Madison County Builders Foundation/Burl and Betty Chandler Scholarships.
