Burglary In Progress Stopped By FPD Arresting Suspect

FLORENCE-On the night of Thursday, June 19, 2025, Florence Police Officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 1600 block of State Street, Florence, AL.

When Officers arrived, they located a suspect who matched the description from the caller. The suspect was walking

John David Baskins

through the back of the property. He was identified as 42-year-old John David Baskins.

Officers detained Baskins and, during a search, recovered multiple burglar tools on his person. He was transported to the Florence Police Department and interviewed by detectives.

Following the interview, Baskins was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Theft of Property 4th Degree, and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. He was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center and has an $18,000 bond. Baskins is innocent until proven guilty.
