Buford Smith – Obituary

Buford-Smith-1452166044Buford Smith age 95 of Guntersville passed away on January 5, 2016. He was born on January 23, 1920. He served in the US Navy during World War II and the US Air Force during the Korean War. Buford retired from the Air Force in May of 1960. After military life , he returned to Guntersville and worked on Redstone Arsenal testing engines for the Satu+9+rn Missile Program. Buford had a thirst for learning and was a certified welder, a certified emergency medical technician, a licensed cosmetologist, graduate of the Arthur Murray School of Dance, and was a trained artist. Buford was a man of strong character, a joyful spirit, and strong Christian values. He was an active member of Warrenton United Methodist Church. Buford is preceded in death by his beloved wife Josie Mae Smith, brothers; Watt, Marshall, Paul and Jack, Sisters; Inez, Ruth (Henry) and Doris (Hayes). He is survived by sisters; Lyndell (Smith) and Edith (Beggs), and his beloved honorary family the Womacs.
Visitation will begin at 12 PM on Friday January 8, 2016 @ Warrenton United Methodist Church and funeral services will follow @ 1:30pm.
