Funeral for Buford R. Garner Jr., 88, from Decatur, Alabama will be Wednesday, July 9,
at 3 p.m. The graveside service will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia, Alabama with the Rev. Ted Vafeas officiating. Visitation will be at the Highland Part Baptist Church in Tuscumbia from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Garner, who died Sunday, July 6, 2014, in Huntsville, Alabama,
was born on June 2, 1926, in Sheffield, Alabama to Buford R. Garner Sr. and Marjorie House.
Mr. Garner Served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and worked at State National Bank until retirement. He served as an interim music director at many Baptist churches in the Quad Cities area. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Sheffield Lodge No. 503 F and AM.
Survivors include
one daughter, Jenny Garner Palladino and husband, Bob;
two sisters, Elizabeth Andrews, of Muscle Shoals, and Rosa Moody, of Siler City, North Carolina;
five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willine E. Whitehead Garner, son, Buford R. “Rocky” Garner III, and his second wife, Dulene D. Garner.
