Buddy D. Johnson, age 93 of Sewanee, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Quality Rehab and Healing in Lebanon. A native of Frankin County, he was born in Sewanee on January 19, 1932, to the late Charlie and Gladys Johnson. Buddy served his country in the Third Infantry Division of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed for forty-four years at the University of the South, where he was head mechanic at the time of his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his garden and watching old war movies. Buddy attended the Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Johnson; and children, Aileen Bonbright, and Janet Sitz. Buddy is survived by his loving son, Paul Johnson; brother, Jim Johnson; and sisters, Judy Johnson, and Betty Johnson; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 12-2pm on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro.
