Bryant Thomas Castellow, 85, of Decatur, AL, passed away on September 1, 2023. Born on November 14, 1937, in Americus, Georgia, Bryant was the beloved husband of Carline Stephens Castellow for 64 years. He was the son of Dr. William Franklin Castellow and Evelyn Thompson Castellow and was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Thompson Castellow. Bryant is survived by his sister, Patricia C. Cook, and his two children, Bryant T. Castellow III (Tammy) and Cathryn C. Brown (David). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Mallory Castellow, Tyler Castellow, Anna Cathryn Brown, and Rebecca Brown, as well as one great-grandchild, Ellianna Castellow. Bryant was predeceased by his son, Carl L. Castellow, and granddaughter, Amanda Castellow.
Mr. Castellow graduated from Huntsville High School and Auburn University, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and served as the managing editor of The Plainsman. After college, he proudly served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army for two years. Bryant later obtained his professional engineering license and established Dixie-Thermodyne company in Huntsville. He also worked for Teledyne and served as an electrical engineer for the Belefonte Nuclear Plant in Scottsboro, AL, and the Palo Verde Nuclear Plant in Phoenix, AZ.
A service to celebrate Bryant’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Monte Sano Methodist Church (located at 601 Monte Sano Blvd. SE Huntsville, Alabama 35801) with visitation at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon. Mr. Castellow will be laid to rest at Blanche Cemetery in Taft, Tennessee.
Bryant Thomas Castellow will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his successful career, and his service to his country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
