Browns Ferry Exercise Tests Multi-Agency Coordination

Browns Ferry: Shrinking the safety margin at Alabama's largest nuclear  plant - al.comDECATUR – Emergency responders from federal, state and local agencies will join Tennessee Valley Authority personnel in an emergency preparedness graded exercise involving the Browns Ferry nuclear plant on Wednesday, June 23.

 

The exercise is part of an ongoing series of training drills and exercises required by the FederalBrowns Ferry Emergency Preparedness Emergency Management Agency and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to ensure an effective and coordinated response to protect the health and safety of the public in the unlikely event of an emergency at Browns Ferry.

 

Although the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic requires some modifications to the exercise format to protect the health and safety of those involved, TVA and the state and local emergency response agencies believe it is important to maintain proficiency in these critical processes and skills.

 

Results of the exercise will be shared at a public meeting on Friday, June 25, at 11:30 a.m. CT in the auditorium of the Morgan County Courthouse, located at 302 Lee Street NE, Decatur, AL.
