Brenda Sue Cooper McCreary November 6, 1946 – June 14, 2025, Brenda Sue Cooper McCreary, of the Hatley community in Amory, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025. She was 78 years old. Brenda was born on November 6, 1946, in Nettleton, Mississippi, and spent most of her life in Monroe County. She and her late husband, Jim McCreary, shared a life full of love, laughter, and service. Together, they owned and operated Precision Communications, Inc., building both a business and a legacy rooted in dedication and hard work. Brenda found joy in simple pleasures — sipping a hot and fresh cup of coffee each morning in her sunroom, cruising Smith Lake on a pontoon boat, soaking in the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, or making sure her beloved dog, Little Bit had her nightly chocolate chip cookies at bedtime. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest treasures. She loved fiercely, laughed easily, and had a knack for telling you exactly what you “ought to do” — usually with a grin and a twinkle in her eye. A devoted member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ, Brenda was actively involved in church life and ministries, especially those that served the youth. Her faith and love for others shaped every part of her life. She and Jim also worked actively with Heritage Christian University to provide funding to train and house ministry students and complete missions around the globe. Brenda continued this ministry with HCU after Jim’s death.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Christian Chapel Church of Christ with Ministers Kirk Brothers, Chase Surrell, and Derrick Maranto officiating. Burial will follow in the Tilden Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Gray and LeAnne Robinson (Roy); her grandchildren, Anna McCall (Will), Luke Robinson, and Logan Robinson; and her nieces, Angie Hendrix and Amanda Jernigan — all of whom she adored deeply. She was a light to all who knew her, and her legacy of joy, strength, and faith will continue to shine through her family and friends.
Brenda is preceded in death by her husband, Jim McCreary; her parents, Elkin and Opal Cooper; her sister, Wanda Gates; her brother, Hoyle Cooper; and her son-in-law, Kimball Gray.
Pallbearers will be Lane Andrews, Brigs Andrews, Sam Carpenter, Brad Moore, J.D. Walters, Earl McDonald, Colton Cantrell, Jonathan Morgan, Isaac Cooper, Carter Worthey, and Benjamin Cleveland.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the service hour at the church.
Memorials may be made to HCU, Jim and Brenda Endowment or to Christian Chapel Church of Christ Youth Fund.
