Brenda Shepherd Elmore, 82, Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Brenda was a lifelong resident of Tuscumbia, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Billy Clyde Elmore; her mother, Nell Whitman Dobbs Shepherd; her father, Thomas Benjamin Shepherd, Sr., her brother, Thomas Benjamin Shepherd, Jr.; and her sister, Beverly Joan Shepherd Morgan.
Brenda began her career at the TVA Bull Run Steam plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where she met her husband, Billy. They were married at the First Methodist Church of Tuscumbia on December 13, 1963. The couple established their home in Tuscumbia and were active members of the community throughout their lives. After her granddaughter Madeline was born, she became Maw maw.
Brenda is survived by her son, Jason (Katherine); granddaughter, Madeline; and her many cousins, nieces, and nephews, along with lifelong beloved friends and their families.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the First Methodist Church of Tuscumbia to support its childcare and Sunday school programs, or to any charity dedicated to children.
