Brenda McCombs New, age 74, passed away at her home in Oxford with her family surrounding her on February 11, 2025, at 7:21 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vinnie Ovell and Calvert Clay McCombs; son, Brandon Champion; brother, Steve McCombs; and sister-in-law, Linda McCombs.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Daniel New; son, David Champion and daughter-in-law, Jessica Champion; grandchildren, Lexie Higgins, Brentli Champion, Brancen Champion, Lexi Waldrep and Ryder Champion; great grandchild, Tripp Webb; siblings, Charlie McCombs and Dave McCombs; sisters-in-law, Sandra McCombs and Nancy McCombs; and several nieces and nephews.
Brenda was born in Anniston, Alabama, on July 8, 1950, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford, Alabama. She had a career at Bellsouth for 33 years. Brenda loved to spend time with and feed her friends and family and enjoyed watching movies.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Greenbrier Road Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
