Brenda Lou Nelson, 66 of Cherokee, died Saturday, July 13, 2013. Visitation will be today at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with the funeral following at 3:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow in Barton Cemetery. Chuck Bradford will officiate the service.
Miss. Nelson was a native and lifelong resident of Colbert County. She was a lifelong member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church, where she loved her Sunday School Class. She loved children and worked at Cherokee Elementary School as Secretary for 42 years. After retirement, she worked with the “Cooking Angels” at her church.
Miss. Nelson is preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Frankie Owen Nelson.
She is survived by her brother, Wayne Nelson and his wife, Sharon; sister, Shirley Keeton and her husband, Howard; nieces and nephews include Neal Keeton and wife, Heather, Debbie Keeton, Bobby Wayne Nelson, Susan Grimmitt and husband, Charlie and Lori Murray and husband, Kenny; great nieces and nephews are Hannah Nelson, Garrett Nelson, Mason Grimmitt, Ainslie Grimmitt, Stephanie Taylor and Katelin Waldrep.
Pallbearers are Mack Waldrep, Pat Waldrep, Neal Keeton, Charlie Grimmitt, Dexter Waldrep, Chester Borden, Kendrick Burns and Bobby Wayne Nelson.
