Funeral services for Brenda Gayle Rice, age 71, of Wadley, will be Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. Clinton Branch officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (South).
Mrs. Rice was born in Randolph County, AL, but has lived in Clay County most of her life. She worked for 18 years at Russell Manufacturing before the plant closing. This closing allowed her to become an LPN and had worked primarily at Traylor Retirement Community in Roanoke, until she became ill. Brenda loved her family and enjoyed watching the Walton’s, Bonanza, Gunsmoke and other westerns.
She is survived by her three sons, Gary Rice (Callie) of Wadley, Dale Rice(Leslie) of Wadley and Scott Rice(Lacey) of Bluntsville; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Lashley (Debra) of Hampton, GA; her other daughter, Jennie Davidson of Ashland; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hulon Lashley and Bessie Williamson Lashley; son, Brian Rice and two brothers, James Lashley and Wilmer Lashley.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Tyner, Dustin Tyner, Jody Melton, Sebastian Melton, John Knight and B.J. Knight.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1-3 before the service at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
Honorary pallbearers will be Aiden Knight and Kaleb Tyner.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
