Brenda Bennett was born on April 25, 1949, she passed away on January 7, 2024 at the age of 74, surrounded by her devoted family.
Brenda was a beautician for 52 years. Her children and grandchildren grew up in the beauty shop. She loved her customers and made many lifelong friends through her work. Brenda was a devoted member of Hermon Baptist Church. Everyday she lived to serve the Lord, worship him and strengthen her faith. Her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 4:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Hermon Baptist Church.
Brenda was preceded in death by her Parents-Rev. John and Velma Tyree; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law-Charlie and Dona Bennett; Brothers-in-law-Spooky Neal, Raymond Bennett, Charles “Dick” Bennett, Doug Bennett and Ken Fikes; Sister-in-law-Ruth Fikes.
Brenda is survived by her Husband of 56 years-Dwight Bennett; Daughters-Carla Lay (Greg) and Shanda Dover (Scott); She was “Nana” to three Grandchildren-Tyler Lay (Alexis), Jordan Lay (fiancé-Matt Creel) and Alyssa Dover. She has six Great Grandchildren-Callie Lay, Carson Lay, Ellie Lay, Farrah Lay, Gatlin Lay and Luke Creel. She is also survived by her Sister-Betty Neal; Sister-in-law-Mildred Bennett and a host of nieces and nephews.
