F.4.5.19 Brenda Long.jpgMrs. Brenda Adelia Aycock Long, 78, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at her residence after a lengthy illness. A native of Franklin County, she was a graduate of UNA, formerly Florence State College, and had retired from the Franklin County School System after 30-plus years as an elementary teacher at EFJHS. This school and community were dear to her heart, as she was to the people with whom she taught and all her students.

A very generous and selfless person, she would give her last dime to anyone who needed it. She loved people and was deeply devoted to her family. Her grandchildren were her life. She was a member of Tharptown Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Franklin Memory Gardens. Eddie Wix will be officiating. Pallbearers will be John Aycock, John David Aycock, Bill Smith, Carl Vandiver, William Smith and Jimmy Martin.

She is survived by her spouse, Thomas Harold Long; daughter, Stacia Ann Long; grandchildren, Tyler Kane Long and Kaitlyn Nicole Vandiver; sisters, Glenda Amelia Long and Peggy Sue Martin; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her beloved son, Thomas Walter “Tommy” Long; brother, David Lamar Aycock; sister, Carol Diane Smith; and parents, Billy Franklin and Lillian Alsbrooks Aycock.

While flowers are accepted, donations may also be made to St. Jude. Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, is directing.
