Brazelle To Be Sent Before Grand Jury On Sexual Abuse Charges

oliver brazelle arrestedFLORENCE —Oliver Brazelle, 80 the former music and youth director of the Sheffield First United Methodist Church in Sheffield has waived his preliminary hearing.  The hearing was held on Wednesday, July 2nd.  His case will now proceed to the grand jury. Brazelle is charged with Second Degree Sexual Abuse and One Count of Second Degree Sodomy according to court records.  He has been accused of sexually molesting a teenage boy and was arrested in January by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation . The alleged victim was a member of the youth group from the Methodist church.  The accusation claims the abuse took place in the 1990s and occurred while the boy was helping Brazelle with yard work at Brazelle’s residence on Shoals Creek. Brazelle’s case will be placed on the docket at the Grand Jury session that will be upcoming this August according to court officials.   To see the historyof this case and how it unfolds go  HERE.
