Bradley Jay Block Bradley Jay Block was born on December 18, 1961, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Baila and Roy Block. The oldest of three, Bradley, affectionately known as “Bubba” or “Bubs,” immediately became the light of his family’s world.

Bradley grew up minutes from Bryant Denny stadium and became a lifelong Alabama fan. He never got dressed without wearing at least one article of Bama clothing, and he could always “feel it in his bones” that Alabama was going to win: often consoling his family after a loss with the refrain “we’ll get ‘em next time.” From childhood, Bradley participated and competed in Special Olympics competitions in swimming, golf, volleyball, and bowling. He proudly displayed his many medals and ribbons in his room.

Bradley worked and was involved with various businesses and organizations around Tuscaloosa, including the RISE Center, Eagles’ Wings, PARA Troopers, and ARC. In 2014, after his beloved Mom passed away, Bradley moved to Huntsville to be with his sister, brother, and their families, and began his involvement with the McKemy Center and Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center.

Bubba created instant connections with each person he met. He touched so many lives with his bright smile and constant compliments. Everyone was “the best” when they were with Bradley. He showed all who were lucky enough to have him in their lives what was truly important in life: how to love one another, and how to be a true Alabama fan. He will be sorely missed by all his friends and family.

Bradley is survived by his sister, Dana (Scott); brother, David (Edna); nieces and nephews, Allison Averbuch (Austin Atkinson), Meredith Odrezin (Daniel), Rachel Block, Sarah Averbuch, Owen Averbuch, Anna Block; and great-nephew, Jacob Odrezin; and countless cousins and dear friends, who were family in Bradley’s eyes. Bradley was predeceased by his parents, Baila and Roy Block, and grandparents, Adelyn and Louis Berman of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Florence, and Ben Block of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bradley’s memory can be sent online or by mail to the Bradley Block Memorial Fund (note: “Bradley Block” on checks) at Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center, 3320 Triana Boulevard SW, Huntsville, AL 35805, and by mail to Eagles’ Wings, Inc., 12379 Eagles’ Wings Drive, Coker, AL 35452.
