Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie Carolyn Copley Cunningham, age 83, will be held at 1 pm Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Salem Baptist Church in Trenton, TN with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 am until service time at the Church.
Mrs. Cunningham was born on April 1, 1938 to Bonnie Lee Farmer Copley and Herbert Hall Copley in Trenton, TN. She was one of ten children. Her siblings were Marie Copley (Charles) Fuchs, Franklin (Dorothy) Copley, Bobbie Louise Copley, Shirley Copley (Jesse) Canada, Frances Copley (Jerry) Rowland, Brenda Copley (Gene) Stanek, Betty Lynn Copley (Jim) Roberson, Catherine Copley (Dave) Stephenson, and Gayle Copley.
Mrs. Cunningham was an active member of Salem Baptist Church in Trenton, TN, all of her adult life. She loved the Lord and showed it in her everyday life.
Mrs. Cunningham was married to Walter F. E. Cunningham for 61 years, prior to his death in 2018. They made their home in the Laneview community. They had two children, Keith (Donna) Cunningham of Trenton, TN, and LeAnne Cunningham (Gary) Smith of Alamo, TN. Her four grandchildren were Tara Smith (Robert) Webber, Adam (Christy) Cunningham, of Trenton, TN, Bryan (Beth) Smith of Alamo, TN, and Kacie Cunningham (Jonathan) Walters of Gibson, TN. Her great-grandchildren are Garrett Webber, Lily Smith, Sydney Smith, Jaci Walters, and Milo Walters.
Mrs. Cunningham worked for the Gibson County Government for 30 years. She worked in several different offices including the offices of the County Clerk, Clerk and Master, and finally the Trustee’s office where she retired in 1991. She loved her jobs in the Courthouse and all the many friends she made over that time.
Mrs. Cunningham passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Trenton Healthcare from complications of Alzheimer’s after many years in the nursing home. She loved her nurses and staff there and would give them all hugs and flash her beautiful smile. The family is so thankful for the staff, nurses, and cna’s at Trenton Healthcare for loving and watching over her when we couldn’t.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter F. E. ; three sisters, Marie Fuchs, Bobbie Louise Copley, and Catherine Stephenson; both of her brothers, Frank and Gayle Copley; her sister-in-law Dorothy Copley; her brothers-in-law, Charles Fuchs, Jessie Canada, Jerry Rowland, Gene Stanek, and Jim Roberson; her nephew, Dennis Roberson, and her niece, Jill Stephenson Little.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her honor be made to the Salem Baptist Church Building Fund.
