Body Of Smith Lake Drowning Victim Has Been Recovered And Identified

CULLMAN COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that the body of the drowning victim from Smith Lake has been recovered and identified.  The drowning took place on Monday May 30:

“The body of Frankie D. Cruce, 60, of Cullman, has been recovered.  Cruce was recovered at approximately 7:20 p.m. Friday, June 3.

Cruce drowned at approximately 1:40 p.m. Monday, May 30, as he attempted to retrieve a canopy which fell from his boat, the incident occurred on Smith Lake near Miller’s Flats. Cruce’s body was located in approximately 42 ft of water at the main river’s channel edge on Smith Lake.

 

The search for Cruse has been an ongoing, multi-agency effort involving Daphne Search and Rescue, the Cullman County Dive Team, Crane Hill Fire and Rescue, Logan Fire and Rescue, the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, Cullman County Fire and Rescue, Haleyville Search and Rescue, Childersburg Search and Rescue along with Troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division.”
