Bobby Ray Jett, Sr. – Obituary

bobbyBobby Ray Jett, Sr., 78, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Decatur Morgan Main Hospital. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 12:30 until 2 p.m. and funeral service at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ben Hayes and Brother Wayne Baggett officiating. He will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery immediately following the service.
Mr. Jett was one of 12 children born to the late Lemuel George and Rosa Rebecca Gray Jett.
He was retired from the State of Alabama and was co-owner of Classic Car Care in Decatur. He graduated from Austinville High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Air Force and had a bachelor’s and master’s degree in political science from Troy University.
He married Susie Halbrooks in 1959 and was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Dennis Jett, Mildred Shelton, Travis Jett, Gertrude Polk, Dwight Jett, Carolyn Hames and Don Jett.
He is survived by one son, Bobby Ray Jett, Jr. and his wife, Mary; three grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Andrew Benjamin “Andy” Jett, Matthew Joseph Jett and Audrey Marie Jett, also survived by his brothers, Hoyt Jett and Gene Jett and sisters, Flora Nell Gregg and Glenda Thompson.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southside Baptist Choir Fund.
