Bobby Ray Hudson age 77, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016, at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mr. Hudson was born March 20, 1939 in Limestone County, Alabama to Thomas Hindman and Lorna Cox Hudson.
Services will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel funeral home with Wayne Holt officiating. Burial will be in Athens city Cemetery with Steve Curtis officiating graveside. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Hudson worked at Hornbuckle Records, Grabbers Department Store, and the local Magnavox Entertainment Center with owners Frank Griffin, Joey Curtis and Carl Hunt, before retiring from retail sales work to preach the gospel full time. Mr. Hudson also helped teach Bible classes at Athens Bible School for several years, and helped organize and was Master of Ceremonies of the Musical Explosion presented annually at Athens Bible School for about thirty years.
Bobby Hudson was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years Margaret Wright Hudson, by his parents, Thomas Hindman and Lorna Cox Hudson, and by his three older brothers, Thomas Allen, Joseph William II, and Carl Lloyd Hudson.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Ray Hudson and wife, Elizabeth of Elgin; granddaughter, Katelyn Hudson Meadows and husband, William of Athens; great-granddaughter, Maggie Valentine Meadows of Athens, and soon expected great-grandson, Liam Hudson Meadows.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Hudson, Tim Hudson, Kent Hudson, Scott Hudson, Jesse McCune and Harold Neeley.
