Bobby PlunkettBobby Plunkett, 88 of Arab passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his residence. He was born February 3, 1936, in Marshall County, the son of Arlie A. Plunkett and Ima Jean Jones Plunkett. Mr. Plunkett graduated from Arab High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and retired from Coyne Cylinder in 1998 to become the #1 baby-sitter for his grandchildren! Mr. Plunkett was a former member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, The Lions Club, and Arab Athletic Association. He was a member of Rocky Mount Primitive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Jane Martin Plunkett; daughter & son-in-law: Kim & Bill Holder
son & daughter-in-law: Jason & Jeanna Plunkett; grandchildren Sam (Sydney) Minshew, Mollie Minshew & fiancé Carson Rittenberry, Jonathan (Kensley) Plunkett, Jeremy (Karsyn) Plunkett, and Jamey Plunkett; great grandchild: Judah Plunkett; brother-in -law: Jimmy Dean; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son; parents: Ima & Arlie Plunkett; brother and sister-in-law: Neal & Nancy Plunkett; in-laws: Garnet & Effie Martin; brother and sister-in-law: Neal & Nancy Plunkett; sister-in-law: Shirley Dean; sister-in-law & brother-in-law: Sue & Thomas Hodge; brother-in-law: Tommy Martin; brother-in-law: John Bill Martin.

Mr. Plunkett’s life was devoted to caring for his family. He was a loving husband, father, and granddaddy, who never missed an event his children or grandchildren were involved in! He loved and cared for his in-laws, as well, and they adored him!

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Rocky Mount Primitive Baptist Church with eulogy by Jamey Plunkett and Jonathan Plunkett officiating. The burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gober Funeral Chapel. He will also lie-in-state from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Sam, Sydney, Mollie, Carson, Jonathan, Kensley, Jeremy, Karsyn and Jamey. Honorary Pallbearers: Stanley Hawk, Austin Hinds, Mike Saylor, Keith Collins, Tim Hodge, Dave Mori, Larry Collins, Phil Isom and Dan Hawk.
