“Pawpaw’s are special gifts and the legacy he leaves behind is something to be proud of. God said to him, Good work, my son. You have grown an amazing family and set them on their way to make a difference in this world. Now it’s time to come home, rest, and rejoice.”

Bobby Lynn Shelby, 84, passed away Monday March 25, 2024, at his home in the Gravestown Community.

Services honoring Mr. Bobby’s life will be at 4 PM Thursday March 28, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Roberson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 PM until service time on Thursday March 28, 2024, at the Ripley Funeral Home.

Born February 14, 1940, in Ashland to the late Clarence Ross and Lillie Mae Webb Shelby. Mr. Bobby received his education from Shady Grove School and was employed in quality control with Clipper Abrasive Sandpaper in Holly Springs for twenty-five years before running the Gravestown Market before his retirement.

A member of Ashland Church of Christ, Mr. Bobby had a passion for old cars, antiques, fishing, and attending flea markets, and auctions. He was a family man, avid storyteller, and was always down for a good joke, clean or dirty. He possessed an irrepressible spirit, a generous heart, and always enjoyed making people laugh. More than anything, Papaw Bobby loved his family and spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always checking on them and there was not anything he wouldn’t do for them. Mr. Bobby lived a good full life and his legacy will be that of a wonderful dad, loving papaw, and true friend.

Those left to cherish his memories include two daughters, Renee Shelby Childers (Richard), and Carla Shelby Manners (Phillip), one son, Jeffery Lynn Shelby, eight grandchildren, Meagan Smith, Rebecca Spires (Cody), Rachel Boone (Caleb), Taylor Wallace (Reade), Morgan Shelby, Alexandra Surbaugh (Nathan), Paige Henry (Tyler), and Kathryn Shelby, and twelve great grandchildren.

He is also preceded in death by one sister, Clara Lee Davis, and one brother, Billy Glenn Shelby.
