On Friday morning, April 11, 2025, Mr. Bobby Louis Turner, 79, a life-long resident of Ripley, departed this earthly life peacefully in the comfort of his home.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be at 1 PM, Thursday, April 17, 2025, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 11 AM until time of service with Bro. Andy Russell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Criswell Cemetery in Tippah County.

Mr. Turner was born August 14, 1945, in Ripley, Mississippi, to Jesse and Martha Robinson Turner, and was a 1963 graduate from Pine Grove High School. Enlisting in the Army, he proudly served his Country in the Vietnam war from 1966 until 1968, receiving the National Defense Service Metal, the Vietnam Service Metal, the Vietnam Campaign Metal and the Army Commendation Medal. His services to the United States played an important role in his life, as he was a believer in the John F. Kennedy’s famous quote, “ Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country” Although it never was an importance in discussing his time spent in the war, he always felt the greatest joy when others would thank him for his service, bringing a tear to his eye.  After leaving the Army, he spent many years driving buses for companies such as Greyhound, Mata and the Memphis Trolley which he dearly enjoyed.

Beyond his commitment to our country, Mr. Turners enjoyments came from all of life’s simple pleasures. He took great pride in his rose bushes, watching the squirrels and hummingbirds in his yard, putting together puzzles, helping Billy in the garden and taking trips to Tunica.  We find great comfort knowing he is at peace and look forward to the reunion of seeing Mr. Turner again.

Those left to carry on his legacy include one son, Michael Turner (Donnah) of Hawaii, nine grandchildren, Kim Hubbard (Danny Key), Monica Huckaby (Mike Graczyk), Bailee and Alina Turner, Malia, Kayla and Katelyn Yadao, Devin Smith and Gavin Hubbard, one son in law, William Huckaby, two very special nieces, Suzanne Dixon (Billy) and Penny Johnson, his lifelong partner, Modena Turner and his caregiver and special friend, Renae Box.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one stepdaughter, Dovie Huckaby, one stepson, William Thomas, and one sister, Sue Cissom.

Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share memories with the Turner family.
