Bobby Lee Riggs – Obituary

Bobby Lee Riggs, 82 of Tuscumbia passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Visitation will be Monday, February 26th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Gene Franks officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Bobby was a native of Tuscumbia and a 1954 graduate of Deshler High School. He was a member of the UA Local 760 Plumbers & Steamfitters for 48 years. Bobby was also a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

Bobby was a loving husband, father, and PaPaw. He loved to sing and write Gospel music and spent his weekends traveling and singing with the Riggs Family and the Celestials, recording three albums. Bobby also loved working outside, watching his grandchildren play sports, and Alabama Football.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Lennis James Riggs; brother, James Riggs; and sisters, Verdell Cox, and Ruth Hester.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Charlene Hudson Riggs; daughters, Michelle Cantrell (Jason), Marsha Cantrell (Jerome), and MaLea Milstead (Tommy); six grandchildren, Jessica Kennedy and Jonathan, Justin, and Lauren Cantrell, Thomas and Anna Milstead; and one great-granddaughter, Katherine Grace Milstead.

Pallbearers are Jonathan and Justin Cantrell, Thomas Milstead, Trey Kennedy, Jim Riggs, and Matt Wright.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
