Bobby Joe Spears was born on June 28, 1938, in Adamsville, Tennessee, to the late Billy “Bill” Spears and Mary Barham Spears. On July 27, 1957, he was blessed to join in marriage with his beloved Jo Ann, a partnership that marked a lifetime of love and companionship.
Bobby was a member of Mud Creek Calvary Church. He dedicated his working years, contributing his skills at B & B Construction, the Tombigbee Waterway, and ultimately retiring from the McNairy County Highway Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
Bobby had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. He cherished old westerns, with favorites like Gun Smoke and Lonesome Dove. Rather than seeking escape in distant places, he found joy in the very soil he nurtured, taking vacations not to rest, but to labor lovingly on his farm. He enjoyed planting fields, raising swine, tending his home garden, and indulging his passion for collecting and trading vintage tractors, especially fond of Work Master Ford.
On May 29, 2026, surrounded by the place he called home, Bobby departed this life at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 1 day. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived with dedication, love, and a spirited connection to the land he so deeply loved.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Spears; a daughter, Teresa Baker; a son, Terry Lynn Spears and wife Angie all of Adamsville, TN; four grandchildren: J.T. Spears and wife Katlin, Josh Baker and wife Ashley, Ben Baker and wife Leah and Emily Baker; seven great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Jace, Brianna, Tate, Joelle, Weston and Marley.
