Bobby Joe Proctor, of Powder Springs, GA, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
Born in Hartselle, Alabama, on October 28, 1931, Bobby was the cherished son of the late Robert and Lillian Proctor. A proud veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Navy with honor and distinction.
On November 20, 1954, Bobby married the love of his life, Louise Dungy Proctor, a union that began serendipitously when Louise and her friends were searching for a new shoe store in downtown Decatur. Their love story is one for the ages, spanning 69 years of shared joy and commitment.
Bobby received his undergraduate degree from Athens College in 1965 and went on to have a long and distinguished career as the CFO at Jim Walter Industries. His professional achievements are surpassed only by his dedication to his family and his faith.
In his well-deserved retirement, Bobby enjoyed life at Smith Lake, where he and Louise often entertained family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
A devout Christian and family man, Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Louise; his sister, Mary Jane Collins (Lt. Colonel Ray Collins) of Ozark, Alabama; his children, Joanna Peterson (Bill) of Marietta, Georgia, and Lynn Proctor of Decatur, Alabama. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lori Proctor.
Bobby’s legacy includes eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry forward the light of his love and the strength of his character.
A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held at Moss Chapel United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 24 with a visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. and a service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Cullman – Medical Equipment Ministry, 320 Third Street Southeast, Cullman, AL 35055.
Bobby’s memory will forever be a beacon of love, faith, and generosity. May he rest in eternal peace.
